How do I find the conference?
The conference takes place at Luntmakargatan 28 and 34, 111 37 Stockholm. There will be SIS signs indicating the entrance. The closest subway station is Hötorget. If you have trouble finding the school on the day, you may call reception at +46 (08) 412 4009.
How does the procedure work?
The procedure of SISMUN will be explained, and students will have a chance to practice it, during the MUN workshop. Overall, it follows the Hybrid procedure that is practiced at conferences worldwide. Delegates write clauses which require an appropriate amount of signatories, followed by clause by clause debate. Once clauses are passed, the final resolution is debated and amended, and ultimately voted on. The resolutions that pass will be discussed again at the General Assembly on Saturday, where all students in the same country come together in one large committee.
Is the opening ceremony mandatory to attend?
No, it is not. It is a great opportunity for students to become familiar with the MUN procedure and mingle with other students, but we realise that visiting schools may not be able to fly in then.
Are meals provided?
Pizza on Thursday night at the opening ceremony, lunch on Friday and snacks on Saturday.
Is housing provided?
Housing is not provided. The Birka Hostel is located adjacent to our conference venue, but we’d be happy to recommend others in the neighbourhood as well.
Do delegates pay individually or can the school pay all together?
Contact us personally as a teacher if you want us to invoice your school as one.
Can I become a chair?
Yes, definitely! However, to be considered for such a position, a student must have much past MUN experience which will be evaluated by a member of our staff. Inquire personally via email ([email protected]) if you would like to be considered for one of the positions.
What are your expectations of the students?
Students must come prepared to the conference, having researched their country and topic as well as prepared an opening speech. As the students are mimicking how the UN operates, delegates must come in western business attire.
What language will the conference be held in?
The official language of the conference is English, and is the ONLY language that will be spoken throughout the conference.
